Some art for Kentucky

Back in October, a friend of mine in Kentucky asked me to shoot some art pieces for his youth building at his church. I was thrilled. This assignment made me feel like I was in a photography class again...and I really missed it. I loved the chance to get to find random things and capture them! Some of the images are new and some I've had around for awhile, but the look they wanted was more monochromatic with vintage yellows and browns. (Most of the ones on the blog were from my aunt and uncles farm house/farm!)

If you know anyone who needs any kind of project like this done for them and they like the style...let me know. I would love to do something like this again.

Sarah, the bride

Sarah and Justin tied the knot a couple of weeks ago in their little winter wonderland of a wedding, complete with milk and cookies for Santa (he was able to slip away from the workshop for a few hours so he could be at their reception!) Sarah and I went out for her bridal session a few weeks before and had a GREAT time shooting these! She's just an amazing woman and encourages me to love the Lord and just enjoy life so much! I'll be blogging their wedding soon, so keep a look out! (Those silly Holidays got pushed me a little behind...so I'm playing catch up this week and next!) Anyway...here we go:

We decided to hop on the trolley when we were in uptown while another bride and some other photographers were taking advantage of the awesome vintage look it had. I think this is one of my faves from 2008!

The Chism Family

I met Rachel a few years ago at a close friend's wedding when her precious daughter Jewel was the flower girl! She and I somehow stayed in touch and I found out about a year ago that she was starting her own photography business. She contacted me last year to take some family portraits, but things got busy and I left the States for awhile. We finally re-scheduled on what we thought would be a beautiful day...and although it appears it was....let me tell you, it was BITTERLY cold! Poor Jewel did NOT want to be outside with us, especially not taking pictures! She was such a trooper! A cute one too!

The Chisms are such a sweet family and I really enjoyed being able to spend an afternoon in the park with them! They are precious and I'm very blessed to know them.

Oh goodness, I could not get enough of how adorable she was in her little plaid peacoat!

Anyone ever heard of the children's book, Blueberries for Sal? This photo reminds me so much of it. Good thing there weren't any bears in our neck of the woods.

What a beautiful family!

Justin and Sarah-engagement

Please just go ahead and prepare yourself for a very adorable couple. Sarah and I met in college and were RAs together for a year. I have many fun memories with this girl and have always looked up to her for her pure heart that so beautifully chases after the Lord. When she left Dallas to go to med school in Houston, I figured she might meet 'the one,' but I had no clue she would meet this guy! Justin is her perfect match. They both have an incredble love and fascination for eyeballs and are just about as giddy over each other as children are over swimming and Christmas lights. so now...here are Justin and Sarah-two of the cutest eye doctors I've ever seen in love.

Sarah mentioned at one point, "Justin and I were thinking of going to Salvation Army and trying on really tacky old wedding clothes. Do you think that would be okay?"

My response, after I fell over in excitement for such a marvelous idea: ABSOLUTELY!!!

I shot Sarah's bridals last week and their wedding is in just a couple of weeks!!! It shall be the wedding of wonderful winter wonderlands. And they didn't title it that...I just think it's going to be that awesome.

See you guys soon!

andrew and marissa. engagement

Marissa and I have known each other for about 4 years, meeting randomly through a mutial friend. We served together in Glowing Heart and now, we're roommates! She and Andrew met in college a couple of years ago and will soon be getting married. She's from West Texas...He's from Australia. They're so cute! I just really hope their children have really cool Texas-Australian accents. :-)
